Notas sobre las relaciones entre perros de trineo y mushers en Tierra del Fuego, Argentina
En este artículo se analiza la actividad turística de los perros de trineo en Ushuaia (capital de la provincia de Tierra del Fuego, Argentina) y sus relaciones material-semióticas con los mushers, conductores humanos de estos trineos. Propongo abordar aquí dos de las principales preguntas que surgieron durante mi investigación y que, al final, culminaron en una gran contradicción: si, por un lado, el adiestramiento de perros de trineo es clasificado por los mushers como una forma de codomesticación (producida por el entrenamiento y la convivencia), por otro lado, los perros de trineo se consideran animales de trabajo genéticamente «programados», tanto por sus cualidades «ancestrales» como por su «mejoramiento gené... I propose to address here two of the main issues that emerged during my research, and that, after all, culminated in a large contradiction: if, on the one hand, the dogs’ training is classified by the mushers as a way of co-domestication (produced by training and cohabitation), on the other hand, sled dogs are considered genetically “programmed” work animals, both because of their “ancestral” qualities and their “genetic enhancement”. In this way, there seems to be a paradoxical image of these dogs: they are “programmed” (nature), but they must be trained (culture).
