Los caminos compartidos en la historia del derecho de autor y el depósito legal en el Reino Unido
Este artículo trata sobre la relación histórica entre el derecho de autor y el depósito legal en el Reino Unido. La introducción presenta los orígenes del depósito legal en Inglaterra como una medida voluntaria que surgió de un acuerdo entre la Compañía de Impresores y Thomas Bodley. Luego se examina la larga unión legislativa (1709-2003) de dichas figuras jurídicas (derecho de autor y depósito legal) en el Reino Unido, con especial énfasis en el periodo de 1805 a 1836, cuando se presenta la llamada “batalla de los libros”, un agudo debate político, legislativo y judicial entre los editores y las bibliotecas depositarias.
