Discriminación del lenguaje en niños con implante coclear: Plasticidad neural y edad de implantación como variables críticas
Introducción: Los implantes cocleares en niños se aprobaron desde la década de los ochenta. Las investigaciones del desarrollo de la vía auditiva sugieren que la colocación temprana de un implante coclear en niños con sorderas prelinguales, brindaría beneficios mayores en discriminación del lenguaje. Grupo I de O a 3 años, grupo II de 4 a 6 años, grupo III de 7 a 9 años y grupo IV de 10 a 12 años. Los I y II presentaron mejor desempeño en la discriminación del lenguaje en contexto abierto y el primero en alcanzar el 50% fue el grupo I, realizándolo hacia los 20 meses. En el contexto cerrado no se hallaron diferencias importantes. Conclusión: Los resultados indican que implantar tempranamente a un paciente con hipoacusia prelingual, podría brindar la ventaja de estimular la vía auditiva en la etapa de oro, en la cual aún está presente el fenómeno de plasticidad neural y maduración activa de la misma. In the closed context, no important differences were found.Conclusion: The results indicate that early implanting a patient with prelingual hearing loss could offer the advantage of stimulating the auditory pathway in the gold stage, in which the phenomenon of neural plasticity and active maturation is still present.
