La estatura como indicador de calidad de vida a través del tiempo ¿es posible comparar sin estándares?
Dado que las dimensiones corporales son el resultado de la compleja interacción entre los determinantes genéticos de los individuos con el ambiente, la estatura ha sido considerada como indicador de calidad de  vida, salud y nutrición en las poblaciones humanas. Sin embargo, la forma de obtener la información sobre  esta característica, está condicionada al hecho de trabajar con poblaciones vivas (antropometría), o con  muestras esqueléticas de poblaciones del pasado (osteometría), siendo variables tanto los métodos y  técnicas empleados para ello, como la precisión de los datos obtenidos.
