Introducción: Una de las situaciones relacionadas con la salud de los trabajadores que más preocupa a las organizaciones son las ausencias en el trabajo. Sin embargo, recientemente existe otro fenómeno, que está llamando la atención de los responsables de la salud laboral, conocido como presentismo, el cual implica que aunque un trabajador cumpla con su jornada de trabajo, puede no estar en su plena condición física o mental. Por tal razón, el objetivo es dar a conocer de manera general la problemática del presentismo, y como esta se relaciona con la seguridad y salud en el trabajo. Resultados: En total se encontraron 49 estudios (29 empíricos y 20 teóricos) relacionados con el tema del presentismo. Resultado de la revisión se evidenció que el presentismo es un fenómeno que puede ser abordado desde el ámbito psicosocial, médico o económico, y aunque se han hecho trabajos demostrando la realidad de esta situación, son pocas las medidas preventivas propuestas, lo que dificulta una pronta intervención. Conclusiones: Es necesario ahondar sobre esta problemática para así evitar disminución en la productividad o afectación en la condición de salud de los trabajadores. Conclusiones: Es necesario ahondar sobre esta problemática para así evitar disminución en la productividad o afectación en la condición de salud de los trabajadores.
