Seroprevalencia de Sarcocystis neurona en caballos de Montería (Córdoba, Colombia)
Sarcocystis neurona es el protozoario más comúnmente asociado con la mieloencefalitis protozoaria equina (EPM), infección que afecta el sistema nervioso central, produciendo ataxia, atrofia muscular, parálisis facial, claudicación, entre otros signos; su diagnóstico es difícil y se debe tener en cuenta cuando se presentan cuadros clínicos con sintomatología nerviosa. En Colombia, se ha reportado un caso compatible con EPM y, en todo el territorio, se encuentran chuchas o zorros y se desconoce su rol epidemiológico.
